Strong Medicine all met up when playing with the Norman Roy Big Band about 5 years ago. All having a lifetime of experience in a huge variety of genre, and love a good laugh. They always arrange our material in their flavour, including songs from 1920-2018, to get that sassy jazz vibe. Loving a good costume and Thomas does his acrobatic bass climbing thing.
They try to have a little something for everyone…and are looking forward to a rerun of the Roaring 20s!!! Alison sang in competitions as a child, with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic for 7 years, and has fronted a number of long lasting band line ups, including The Final Nails (Americana), The Third Man/ceilidh band, as half a folk duo who ran and hosted a number of folk clubs, and Strong Medicine.
Alison also composes and arranges music for theatre productions, including Much Aado About Nothing, As you Like it and Of mice and Men.
Alison loves singing and dressing up! Thomas, her German husband, is in love with his Double Bass, which he has been playing since he was 11. His background is mainly in Rockabilly, including 2 years touring with The Brian Setzer Orchestra, and later with The Dick Brave project which was a rockabilly musical.
He has played in big bands and currently also plays with The Cheesecutters and The Swinging Bricks who are signed to Raucous Records. Dennis is a wonderful guitar player and a good laugh! Past credits include Farrons Flamingos, Abba now, Norman Roy Big Band, and his solo act Just Dennis.

This 3 piece are exactly what their name implies; Strong Medicine for the spirit and the soul. Their style is swing and jazz with a modern twist and they have had my feet tapping of each of the number of occasions we have seen them. They are 3 high spirited and entertaining musicians that produce a tight yet flowing sound. Their quirky style is infectious, with tall Thomas regularly ascending his bass and wowing the audience by playing perfectly from up top; Alison’s vocals are distinctive and individual, and she puts her stamp on every song.
Alsion is infectious and gets you up on the up tempo numbers but is just as comfortable on smooth ones. Dennis confidently adds his honed skills to well rehearsed interpretations on guitar. They are a fun and catchy group who cover the likes of Caro Emerald and do an absolutely amazing performance of the Peaky Blinders theme involving a crow bar used as a bell.
Does the band provides full lighting? Yes they certainly do, and full PA System
Will the band be in costume? Of course they love to get dressed up for their performance it gives you the full effect of the 1920’s
